What paints are recommended for wooden folding palettes?
We recommend using water-soluble paints, renewable again and again – watercolor or gouache. We do not recommend putting acrylic or tempera in the cells of the palette – these paints dry quickly and can remain in the palette forever.
Are the colors leaking out of the palette?
As soon as you add watercolor or gouache to the palette, give the paints a little time to harden. Place the palette open at room temperature, after a few hours the palette can be closed and taken with you, the paints will remain inside.
How to care about palettes?
After working with the palette, be sure to wipe the surface of the wood from water – this will make the waterproof coating of the palette last longer.Dry the palette only in conditions created without heaters or hair dryers.
How to renew the protective coating of the palettes?
Renew the palette coating with wax, wood oil-wax (you can use linseed oil – this is the easiest and most affordable option) every 3 months if you actively use the palette. We recommend using OSMO 3032 wood oil-wax. To renew the coating – clean all wooden parts of the palette from paints, dirt, lightly sand only the wooden parts of the palette using fine sandpaper (for example, grain 180), then apply the first layer of oil, after 24 hours apply the second layer of oil.
Are folding palettes sold with paints?
Palettes are sold without paints, each artist adds his own colors to the palette, which he is used to.
How long do the paints in the palettes last?
This is very individual. If you use high-quality companies and highly pigmented paints, then in one addition of paints to the palette you can fill the entire sketchbook with paintings.
